My latest collection has a historical theme, which was in part produced with actual historic mediums. Using vintage newspapers, some of which are dated up to 100 years old, I have created many series of portraits and abstract pieces that present a historic perspective. The subjects of the pieces include founding fathers and distinguished presidents, as well as non-figurative concepts.
As the first draft of history, American newspapers have preserved essential records and detailed accounts of the people, issues and events that shaped the nation for hundreds of years. I came upon the idea of using vintage newspapers. Having been written and created in America, I wanted the ideas that I expressed to be as long lasting as the newspapers themselves. I felt my history here melt into the history of the U.S. as a painted a universal truth. My continuous pursuant for the enhancement of the value of arts intertwined with cultural interactions further preserve our collective memory on history and heritage, which, in return, help to reinforce the roots and source of energy connecting our past and the work towards the future, which I would define as “The Value of Arts and Cultural Heritage”.
